The Asian Tiger mosquitoes like to breed in containers waist height and below, are active during all periods of the day, and are best know for carrying the Chikungunya virus. -Turn over any containers that could collect water. Places to look for possible standing water are empty planting pots, wheelbarrows, tarps, and discarded tires. Stagnated, inactive water is a great place for mosquito larvae to develop. 
-If you own a bird bath, frequently discard the water and replace with a fresh source in order to avoid stagnated water. -For small water features and lily ponds, consider purchasing guppies. One of the natural organisms within the guppy diet is mosquito larvae. So, purchasing a few guppies will help keep mosquitoes at a minimum, and allow you to have a water feature to enjoy in your back yard.
-Clean all gutters and down spouts of debris. Standing water in gutters and around down spouts due to clogs are great places for mosquitoes to breed.
